Revealing the Invisible
- Dott 2007
A project to celebrate the forgotten industrial
heritage of rural areas to promote and support
sustainable tourism.

Revealing the Invisible celebrates the
"forgotten" industrial heritage of Allendale.
Dominated by a vast, rural landscape, surviving
ruins leave only partial traces of the once
thriving lead and silver mining industry.
To experience what was once, four blue light
installations will create a contemporary context
for the main dilapidated ruins by illuminating
their missing forms. The ephemeral blue light
is a colour reminiscent of the lead veins found
in mines; it highlight the "forgotten heritage"
in order provoke curiosity and dialogue.
Where possible, renewable energy sources
will also be used as miners once did.

In collaboration with Monica Chong, Jim Rokos
and Christina Worsing, Allendale Industrial
Heritage Dott 07 Design Camp Team.
